Pruitt: Red Team-Blue Team Debate, Climate Deniers Versus Science, Coming Soon

EWG Offers to Help Recruit Skeptics

WASHINGTON – Environmental Protection Agency chief Scott Pruitt said today his “red team-blue team” debate, pitting climate change deniers against scientists who accept the facts about global warming, could be convened early next year.

“That red team-blue team concept is something that is ongoing as far as an evaluation, and we may be able to get there as early as January of next year,” Pruitt said in his first appearance as EPA administrator before the House environment subcommittee.

The Environmental Working Group has been a tough critic of Pruitt's anti-science, anti-public health agenda. But in the spirit of supporting scientifically sound inquiry into a problem that threatens the very future of the planet, EWG offered to help the recruitment effort.

“Just off the top of our heads, we know some first graders who, like Pruitt, don't understand why if the climate's heating up, it can still snow during Christmas break," said EWG President Ken Cook. "With the promise of snacks and a chance to get a peek of Pruitt’s secret phone booth, I’m sure they could be lured off their scooters and swing sets to help. Or maybe that guy in California who's going up in a homemade rocket to prove the Earth is flat."
