The Basics: About this Internship

The main role of the Social Media Intern is to support our communications director while gaining an insider’s perspective on how a national non-profit organization uses social media to accomplish its mission. 

The social media channels include Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/HealthyChild/) and Twitter (https://twitter.com/healthy_child).

This is an unpaid part-time (10-15 hours/week) internship for spring 

Responsibilities: 
  • Review current activity on our social networks to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Create content to share on Healthy_Child Facebook and Healthy_Child Twitter.
  • Track our social media performance and generate stats monthly.
  • Help us create an effective, efficient ROI monitoring system that can be easily communicated to those less aware of social media.
Qualifications: 
  • Currently enrolled in college.
  • Familiar with various social networks – preferably from an administrator’s perspective -  including Facebook and Twitter (literacy of other forms of social media is seen as a plus).
  • Reliable, independent, able to work well with people in other offices.
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics, HootSuite, Excel, a plus.
  • Interest in and awareness of environmental health issues a plus.
